Widespread gold being discovered to bolster copper resource

Klirou is a virgin discovery and an intact Resource calculated to contain 3.3Mt @ 0.54% Cu, 0.6% Zn and 13.55% Sulphur (JORC 2012). Mineralisation extends from surface to a depth of ~150m in a series of northeast plunging ‘shoots’. The mineralisation remains open to the northeast.

Historical drilling highlighted the presence of significant and widespread gold, with a best intercept of 48m @ 1.15g/t in the core of the Eastern shoot, suggesting that the value of the Resource could be significantly upgraded with the inclusion of gold. Venus will be aiming to achieve that during 2021.

Venus has carried out detailed geological mapping, rock chipping and down-hole geochemistry during 2020. The revised geological model is throwing light on the mineralisation model and aiding the targeting of extensions to the deposit.

The mapping and rock chipping also identified significant gold mineralisation ~100m to the north of the deposit, with sample assays up to 7.3g/t gold and 22.6g/t silver (EMR_AB05703).

The following historical intercepts (non-JORC) demonstrate the copper potential for the Klirou orebody:

  • EMR20: 36.0m @ 2.58% Cu
  • HKL54: 50.0m @ 1.65% Cu
  • HKL80: 47.0m @ 1.63% Cu

The following historical intercepts demonstrate the gold potential for the Klirou orebody:

  • EMR19: 48.0m @ 1.15 g/t Au
  • EMR20: 36.0m @ 0.60 g/t Au
  • EMR34: 8.0m @ 1.72 g/t Au
